Clubs v Hotshots 12.01.25

It was the first game back after Christmas and we haven’t had a game since October – three months ago!! However, we all showed up and played really well. I think we all have points to work on but the basics were still there:

  • Catching & throwing ✔️
  • Positional play ✔️
  • Get the ball in the net ✔️ (well done Jeanette and Jodie – who won player 👏🏼)

Hotshots soon took the lead in the first two quarters ending the first half ahead by 5. Going into the third, we had settled into the game and started to claw it back, ending the third quarter ahead by a few. The last quarter was a bit wobbly but given the circumstances, the score is pretty good and everyone played really well.

Well done everyone ♣️💕

♣️ 50 – 51 Hotshots 1

Diamonds enjoying their final season with some fantastic team work after 5 years.

Queens are now a formidable squad having less than 12 months of training together.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 🥳🎁🌲🥂🎉🍷⛄️

Diamonds dazzle in 2024 finalè

Diamonds vs Hotshots 2 – 15/12/24

Our last match of 2024 started with a very neck and neck quarter. Despite a slow start with the quarter ending in 12-14 to Hotshots, all of us were becoming adjusted to the other team to be able to gain an advantage in the next quarter.

In the second quarter, we started playing to our strengths, securing leverage over Hotshots. Georgina and Edie showcased outstanding defensive skills within the D, consistently challenging the opposing shooters and making it difficult for them to find opportunities to score. This enabled us to close the scoring gap and ultimately overturn the lead, giving us a narrow advantage with a score of 26-23 in our favour.

In the third quarter, the team extended the lead over the opposition. Poppy B and Eliza delivered exceptional feeds into the D, creating excellent opportunities for Katie and Chloe to execute impressive shots, resulting in a strong advantage of 38-29.

We had secured our lead and maintained it in the final quarter. Mary executed outstanding interceptions, effectively moving the play up the court to our shooters. Poppy M was a constant option for passes, helping to reset our positions and maintain control of the game. The entire team demonstrated the skills and strategies we had practiced in training, which proved effective as we secured a convincing victory with a final score of 49-32.

Queens rule over Jaguar Stars

Queens took on Jaguar Stars this morning and got lucky with the rain holding off 🙌🏼

We had a brilliant match and managed to keep things steady and controlled as much as possible (following a rushed first quarter) on a very slippery court!

The defence trio was hot, as usual, with Millie, Luc and Millie with flying interceptions, fast reaction rebounds and backing up in relentless centre court too.

Centre court play with myself, Millie, Katie and Gemma worked brilliantly with patient play and great offers throughout, and where the court and ball were so slippy today, there was immense teamwork in picking up someone else’s faults when the ball ran away from a player or slipped from someone’s hands.

But the main event this morning was our super shooters; Frankie, Amy and Gemma! The shooting was absolutely on fire today and the training and teamwork has come on in leaps and bounds since we started our first season together back in April. Jaguar defence didn’t stand a chance when Queens worked the ball quickly and effortlessly around to get almost every shot in the net.

A very well deserved player of the match was awarded to our very own Frankie, for unreal work and play at GA and GS, and your best shooting to date 👑 Well done and thank you Franks! You are invaluable on the court 💗

Queens walked away with a sky-high score of 55-21 💥⚡️✨💫🌟

Diamonds lose their sparkle towards the end

01/12/24 – Match report by Mary – player of the match

Diamonds vs Jaguar 2
With the scores neck and neck throughout the match, the win just slipped through our fingers in the last quarter so the end score was 39-27 to Jaguar.

In Q1 we started off in the lead with some amazing shots from Chloe and Katie, their rebounds were very strong here too. With Georgina out for this first quarter we borrowed a Queen Millie who played excellent as Keeper.
Q2 Here the jaguar defence got stronger which meant we had to work around the semi circle more which was easy with Eliza and Chiara making great offers and using the pockets well.
In Q3 Me and Georgina made the decision to double mark the shooter which provided effective as between us we made many interceptions. Georgina’s epic lean was able to put the attackers off too. Despite this, Jaguar were still in the lead.
By Q4 the score kept getting further away with more impressive passing from Jaguar which just got around our defence. We maintained the pressure across the court but it wasn’t quite enough.

Well played everyone, we will get them next time 💎❤️

Storm & weather warnings stop play

Diamonds tame Panthers with a win

17/11/24 – Match report by Mary, Player of the match!

Diamonds vs Panters 3
We played a tense match against a bottom of the table team where the scores were fairly close. But we were still able to triumph!

Q1 was our worst quarter with lots of catches missed and weak passes made which meant Panthers were able to take a lead quickly. However, we managed to pull it back ending this quarter with a 6-6 draw.
Q2 was much better, after switching sides out of the direction of the sun, shooting was much more accurate. We were able to work the ball around the circle and gain lots of penalties through the Panthers GD and GK constant contact. Defence was strong too with Georgina’s excellent rebounds. We were able to get up to a 15-11 lead by the end of this quarter.
In Q3 and Q4 we continued to improve both defensively and at the attacking end as we were able to turnover the ball more quickly in rebounds and get more interceptions. Our ability to switch channels to create more space was really affective here. Despite the rocky start, we won 35-22!

Hearts tame Panthers 1

Hearts WON against Panthers 1!
50-43🏆🏆

It was a fun and energetic game against Panthers and we took an early lead. Our Centre, Rose, and WA, Jodie, both played up and were seamless in the team. They gave amazing feeds into the circle and great support bringing the ball up from many turnovers! Pippa, Kate and Laura were putting pressure on every pass in Panthers’ attack, of which many paid off and were converted to goals!

Some small errors from our side meant the score was fluctuating throughout the second quarter but a quick team talk sorted things out. We decided to slow the play with some more short passes as Panthers have always been great at reading overheads. This, combined with some better movement in the D from Molly and Lauren, meant the score was steadily increasing in the third quarter. We were having so much fun we forgot to play possession in the last quarter and have a bit of a rest!

Well done team💪 and 🏆 to Jodie for getting player!
